Lady Spartans’ First Win of the Season

The Boardman Girls Basketball team won their first game of the season at home against Mooney with a score of 66-58. With a slow first half and being down by 9 points, the girls pushed to bring their “A-game.” Junior Captain Katie Stamp made big shots in the third and fourth quarters and contributed 14 points to the score as well as 4 rebounds. Junior Maria Torres made her way onto the court for the first time since January and led the Lady Spartans for scoring with 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Freshman Gia Triveri added 8 points to the scoring on the night and Junior Bailey Moore sunk a big 3 to improve the second half. Junior Captain Emma Tokarsky had a tremendous game at the free throw line scoring 10/12 while also adding 2 assists and 8 rebounds. Junior Serene Khatib hit for 7 points and 4 rebounds on the night. Lastly, Junior Captain Raegan Burkey added 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 points to push the win. The hard work and effort led the Lady Spartans to a 28 point third quarter and 43 point second half over taking the Lady Cardinals! Come out and support the Lady Spartans!
