The Boardman Spartans Beat Ursuline At YSU

The Boardman Spartans fought an intense scoring battle against Ursuline. The game concluded with a 34-19 win for the Spartans. Many different Spartans scored, including Terrance Thomas, Sean O’Horo, Connor Miller, Tyler Peterson, and Tommy Fryda contributing extra points. Spartan senior Connor Miller intercepted an Irish pass to set up the Spartans in a good field position on the 36 yard line. Tommy Fryda attempted a field goal with 6 seconds left in the second, but unfortunately missed. The third quarter was left on a scoring stalemate, until the Spartans punched in the ball with a rushing touchdown by Connor Miller. Tommy Fryda concludes the scoring drive by completing a successful field goal. The Irish answered back quickly with a touchdown nearly one minute later. The score was then 19-21, with Boardman in the lead. With 9 minutes and 13 seconds left in the 4th, senior Tyler Peterson scored a receiving touchdown by senior quarterback Zach Ryan. Tommy Fryda’s attempt at an extra point was then blocked by Ursuline. Justin Cina crippled the Irish offense with a clutch sack to put the Irish 2 and 18 forcing the drive to conclude with a punt. To conclude the Spartans scoring, sophomore Terrance Thomas scores a 44 yard touchdown with 6 minutes and 25 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Tommy Frydas extra point was successful, increasing the Spartans lead 34-19. To conclude the game and lead the Spartans into victory formation, Rashi Garner had an impressive sack to force the Irish to 4th and long. This lead the Spartans to triumph, marking 3-5 on the season.
