Spartan Football Falls to Maple Heights

Spartan football successfully qualified for the OHSAA playoff and traveled to Maple Heights on Friday, November 2nd.

The team was led by Senior Quarterback, Michael O’Horo with one rushing touchdown. Alex Huzicka punted for the Spartans, leaving Maple Heights on their own one yard line early in the first quarter. Huzicka then worked with Tino Arcuri to get a safety. The first quarter ended with a score of 9-6.

Boardman only scored three points the rest of the game, they were scored off a field goal made by Tommy Fryda. Maple Heights then took off scoring and kept the half in their favor with a half time score of 22-12.

Maple Heights speed beat out the Spartan defense throughout the rest of the game, The final score was 42-12. The team ended with a 6-5 record overall, and 2-2 within the All American Conference games. The team left a legacy being the first Spartan football team going to playoffs two consecutive years in a row.
