High school students have the opportunity to participate in the program Big Spartan, Little Spartan. This program pairs a high school student with a participant at an elementary school or middle school.

The group meets at a designated school based on the location of the Little Spartan. They pick an activity, play outside, or do an assigned one depending on what building they’re in. The high school students are mentoring the younger kids to help them with school, and seeing what they can do in the future. Participants meet one Friday a month. They spend around one hour together.  Senior, Alicia Saxton says, “it was fun to get to know the kids and see how excited they are for high school.”

High School Counselor and coordinator of Big Spartan, Dan Ewing, says, “The little kids think the high school kids are rock stars. We wish we would meet more than once a month.” He also says they look for positive, energetic, and dedicated students to be a part of the program.
