The weather in Ohio is very unpredictable, it goes from sunny, to rain, to snow, to storming, to windy, and from hot to cold all in the same week or even the same day.

Therefore in Ohio we have many different storm watches and warnings. We have winter storm warnings and watches, tornado warnings and watches, flood warnings and watches, thunderstorm warnings and watches, and wind advisories. Most people don’t know the difference between a warning, watch, or advisory.

According to the National Weather Service a watch is when there is the potential or conditions that show that a dangerous weather event can occur. A warning is when a dangerous weather event is about to happen and that immediate action must be taken to protect life and property. A weather advisory means weather conditions that are less serious than a warning are about to occur. These types of events may cause a big inconvenience, and if people are not careful, it could lead to a situation that can be threatening to life and property.

This is the time of year where we have severe weather which means that knowing the difference between these 3 warnings is very important when it comes to keeping yourself, and others, safe.
