Clay Jenson had another typical day at school until he returned home and there was a strange package with his name on it awaiting him at his doorstep. When he opened the package, he found a bunch of cassette tapes left by a girl Hannah Baker who had killed herself two weeks before. Hannah was Clay’s classmate and also his crush. As he started listening to the tapes he realized they were recordings of her voice giving 13 reasons why she killed herself. Clay happens to be one of them, which explains why he got the tapes and if he listens to them he will find out why he is one of the reasons for Hannah ending her life.

I enjoyed this book because the story was really relatable as a teen and was intriguing. I would recommend this book to teens and adults because it does contain explicit and mature content throughout the story. I liked this book so much because it was a story one wouldn’t want to stop reading or put down. The meaning behind this story and the way it was written can teach a lesson to many people and can also be very engaging. Overall, I think this is a book a lot of people should read.
